About Us

IN NEVADA, hunting with dogs is not a trend

It’s a tradition.

Long before policy debates and public comment periods, there were hounds trailing through desert canyons, upland bird dogs working sage flats, and retrievers breaking ice on cold mornings. Sporting dogs have always been part of Nevada’s hunting culture — partners in the field and family at home.

The Nevada Sporting Dog Alliance was formed in 2015 when a group of sportsmen recognized something important: if we didn’t show up to represent Nevada sporting dog owners, no one else would.

We saw changes coming to hunting regulations, pressure on hound hunting, and growing misunderstandings about the role of dogs in conservation. So we organized. Not to argue. Not to divide. But to advocate.

Today, we work to protect the heritage of sporting dogs in Nevada by engaging directly with the Nevada Wildlife Commission, state legislators, county advisory boards, and the Coalition for Nevada’s Wildlife. We believe sportsmen’s advocacy should be steady, informed, and grounded in facts.

More Than Tradition

Hunting with sporting dogs is heritage worth defending.

Dogs have always been part of my life in the outdoors. This isn’t politics for me — it’s protecting something that shaped who I am.

Jason Graham

PRESIDENT

I was always amazed at how having a dog along changed the hunt – not just in the amount of success but in the overall experience of the hunt.

Jonathan Lesperance

PAST BOARD MEMEBER

I hope to educate people about our dogs and dispel the misconceptions that our hounds are tools – my hounds are my family.
